Beehive Hair Tutorial
The Beehive is a hairstyle from the 60’s, in which the hair is piled up on the top of the head by backcombing and slightly pointing backwards. It’s a great hairstyle if you’re running late one morning, have dirty hair, or just simply are having a bad hair day. It’s an extremely quick hair-do that will leave you feeling retro mod chic!

Products needed:

Tools needed:
  • Back combing brush
  • Comb
  • Clip/Bobby pins
  • Vintage hair scarf (Optional)

Start by clipping away your bangs, you’ll be styling those lastly. Next, in the crown area, prep your hair with some Volumizing Dry Shampoo to lock in your back combing. Using your back combing brush, take an inch section and tease it till it can stand a few feet high on its own. Repeat that until you’re almost to the occipital bone and spray generously with Strong Hairspray. Grab your back combing brush and start to lightly smooth the beehive.

You don’t want to over-do it, otherwise you’ll be brushing out everything you just created. Once you feel it’s at an appropriate height, spread some Suavecita Pomade in your hands and run it over the bump to smooth fly aways and tame frizz. As for the sides, gently pull everything back using your comb and pin the rest where the backcombing ends. If you use a hair scarf, don’t worry about perfection, it’ll be covering any unwanted hair. Finish off the sides with some Hairspray and Pomade if needed to smooth.

For the back you’ll be creating a lazy version of a French twist. Grab the bunch as if you were going to put it in a ponytail, and twist it inward while still going up and secure with bobby pins. For the hair scarf, unfold it and take opposite corners and match them up to create a triangle. The ends will wrap around your head to meet at the front where you’ll be making a bow. Use your bangs to give it a nice side swept look, or a voluminous suicide roll!
